Not everyone dreams of a traditional wedding venue. You may tour one and think it’s beautiful, well organized and perfectly nice—and still feel like it has nothing to do with you.
Maybe you don’t want the standard ballroom, the matching chairs or the usual timeline. Maybe you want mismatched furniture, food trucks, lawn games, dogs, live music or something nobody has thought of yet. Maybe you simply want your wedding to feel relaxed, personal and a little unusual.
That can be another reason to choose a DIY wedding. It gives you room to start with who you are instead of starting with someone else’s wedding package.
Of course, more freedom also means more decisions and more responsibility. But if a traditional venue makes you feel as though you have to squeeze yourselves into somebody else’s idea of a wedding, creating your own may be worth the extra work.
Your wedding doesn’t have to look like a normal wedding. It just needs to feel like you.
